What to Pack for Working in Osaka This Summer: A Guide for Expats
By Apollo Properties Osaka

If you’re coming to Osaka to work during the summer, welcome! Osaka is a vibrant, energetic city full of culture, great food, and warm (sometimes very warm) weather. Here’s a quick guide on what to pack so you’re prepared and comfortable during your stay.

1. Light, Breathable Clothing
Summer in Osaka is hot and humid, with temperatures often reaching over 30°C (86°F). Pack light, breathable clothes—cotton, linen, and moisture-wicking fabrics are best. Short-sleeved shirts, comfortable pants, and dresses are ideal. Offices tend to be air-conditioned, so you may also want a light cardigan or jacket.

2. Business Attire
If you’re working in an office, bring at least one set of formal business clothes. In Japan, dress codes can be quite conservative, especially in corporate environments. Neutral colors and modest styles are appreciated.

3. Umbrella and Rain Gear
Summer includes rainy season (tsuyu), usually from June to mid-July. A small, foldable umbrella is essential. A light raincoat or waterproof shoes will also come in handy.

4. Personal Items and Toiletries
While most essentials can be found in Japan, it’s a good idea to bring your preferred brands of deodorant (which can be harder to find), over-the-counter medicines, and any specialty hair or skin products.

5. Electronics and Adapters
Japan uses Type A plugs and 100V electricity. Bring an adapter if your devices use other types of plugs. A pocket Wi-Fi or SIM card for mobile data is also useful when you arrive.

With the right packing, you’ll be ready to enjoy your summer work experience in Osaka. Apollo Properties welcomes you!
